PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT
RECRUITMENT OF STUDENTS AT THE KIGUTU INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY SCHOOL
(COHORT 2024-2025)
Kigutu International Academy (KIA) is a secondary school established in 2020 under ministerial ordinance No. 620/Cab.Min/IGEFTP/2111/2020 dated April 24, 2020, to train a new generation of 21st-century scientists and ethical leaders in Burundi with excellence at the heart of transformative education. In order to translate this value into reality, a conscious effort is made to align the school's values with daily activities to prepare KIA students to meet national (Exetat) and international (SAT) standards of academic excellence. Thus, KIA aims to provide students with a solid training that makes them competitive in higher education in Burundi, Africa, and therefore internationally.
KIA's program has a concentration in sciences (BCST in the Burundian program). In this context, recruitment focuses on attracting students who align well with the proposed disciplines in order to minimize the risk of disinterest, dropouts, or students who would require a high level of support to succeed in their science courses. By focusing on potential students who fit well with the institution and the program, KIA maintains high retention and graduation rates while providing a foundation for the academic success of each student. The result is not only students who succeed and graduate but a pool of potential candidates who are able to benefit from a rich and fulfilling learning experience - which they will communicate to others. Each year, KIA recruits 32 candidates; 16 boys and 16 girls.
Although excellence is multidimensional in nature, stemming from strong and effective leadership, sustained focus on teaching and learning, a positive school climate and culture, and the good of others; excellence depends almost entirely on achieving student recruitment goals. This is a key strategic objective that has short, medium, and long-term implications for translating the school's vision into reality and a key element of the school's risk register.
The student recruitment strategy revolves around two major axes:
An ad hoc student recruitment commission that will maintain a particular focus on achieving recruitment goals and will objectively ensure that KIA's vision and mission are at the heart of the recruitment process.
A recruitment plan that includes the 2024-2025 selection criteria, communication plan, new school recruits’ integration plan, and a comprehensive recruitment timeline.
All interested candidates are requested to fill out the attached application form before the deadline of July 21, 2024, at 11:59 PM. Subsequent steps in the application process will include in-person interviews to assess oral skills in French and English. Final admission will also depend on the results of the 9th-grade exam which must accompany your application. Without the results of the 9th-grade exam, your application will not be considered.
