Application Process
Students may apply to KIA between February 1- March 31 of their grade 9 academic year. KIA seeks students with demonstrated academic and leadership potential from across Burundi, as well as the broader East African region. The application process includes a written application form, essays and recommendations. Later stages of the application process will include in-person interviews and a finalist day. Final admittance will also be contingent on grade 9 exam results.
Please check back here for the KIA application form, which will be available early in 2020.
Immersion Year
Students who enter KIA will typically have completed grade 9 in the Burundian system. While they will repeat grade 9 at KIA, the academic experience will be entirely different. KIA’s grade 9 experience serves as an “immersion year, focused on intensive English, Entrepreneurial Leadership and hands-on learning both in and out of the classroom. The “immersion year” will provide the foundation for students to thrive during their remaining three years at KIA, enabling them to take full advantage of the innovative curriculum, active learning model and English-speaking environment. KIA’s 4-year program will position students for success at university and beyond.
